Japan, India to hold 2+2 meeting in late April

Saturday’s Nikkei and Mainichi reported that the governments of Japan and India are making arrangements to hold a 2+2 meeting of their foreign and defense ministers in Tokyo as early as late April to confirm security cooperation toward realizing a free and open Indo-Pacific with China’s maritime advancement in East and South China Seas in mind. Nikkei wrote that the ministers of the two governments are expected to confirm security cooperation ahead of Prime Minister Suga’s planned visit to India for talks with Prime Minister Modi during the Golden Week holidays. The daily added that the meeting may be held online.
