GOJ mulls raising 2030 emissions reduction target to 45% 

Saturday’s Yomiuri and Mainichi reported that the GOJ is considering significantly raising its 2030 greenhouse gas emissions reduction target from the current 26% to 45% over fiscal 2013 levelsYomiuri added, however, that since there is rift between the Environment Ministry and the Trade Ministry over the matterthe GOJ will accelerate efforts to coordinate and reach a decision by the end of this month. The paper wrote that the GOJ is mulling the possibility of announcing its new 2030 target at the U.S.-Japan summit slated for April 16 or the climate change summit on April 22-23.
