TBS reported at noon on the finding that the U.S. side strongly urged Japan to raise its 2030 greenhouse gas emissions reduction target to 50% during the bilateral talks held ahead of the upcoming summit. The network said the GOJ has been considering raising the 2030 reduction target from the current 26% to 45% from the 2013 level. The network added that attention will be focused on what Prime Minister Suga will say at the summit, quoting a GOJ source as saying: “There’s a big difference between 45 and 50.”
