NHK reported this morning that Taiwan President Tsai wrote in a tweet in both English and Japanese on Tuesday evening that she was “pleased to see” the U.S. and Japan affirm the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. She also wrote: “Guided by our shared belief in democracy & human rights, Taiwan will continue to work alongside our partners to build a more peaceful & prosperous Indo-Pacific.” The network said this was the first time for Tsai to comment publicly on the joint statement.
