Japan likely to approve Moderna vaccine on May 21

Saturday’s Yomiuri wrote that the GOJ is making arrangements to approve the production and sale of the COVID-19 vaccine produced by U.S. pharmaceutical company Moderna as early as May 21. The Moderna vaccine will be the second COVID-19 vaccine to be approved by Japan following the Pfizer one. The GOJ has reached an agreement with Moderna to receive a total of 50 million doses of the vaccine by September. The GOJ is planning to use them at the large-scale GOJ vaccination centers to be established in Tokyo and Osaka set to begin operations on May 24.
