Nikkei reported that an increasing number of municipalities are being forced to use commercial human resources agencies to secure healthcare providers to administer COVID-19 vaccines to local residents given that some local doctors are hesitant to cooperate out of concern that their clinic operations may be disrupted. Although the Japan Medical Association chairman has pledged the group’s utmost efforts, a number of municipal leaders are complaining about a lack of enthusiasm on the part of some local doctors. The daily added that their reluctance may stand in the way of achieving Prime Minister Suga’s goal of administering 1 million shots per day nationwide.
