Nikkei wrote that it has learned from a GOJ source that at least 40 municipalities have called off their Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics “Host Town” programs to welcome overseas athletes for training camps and cultural exchanges before the Games due to COVID-19 concerns. Nikkei, Yomiuri, and Mainichi wrote that Chiba Prefecture announced on Wednesday that it will not host a pre-Olympic camp for U.S. athletes because it was told by USA Track & Field on April 14 that it will cancel the planned camp.
