Nikkei wrote that the ruling LDP is set to establish a panel on building resilient supply chains for semiconductors amid the acute supply shortage worldwide, saying that party heavyweights, including former Prime Minister Abe and Deputy Prime Minister Aso, will join the league to discuss cooperation with the U.S. and other partners to reduce reliance on supplies from Taiwan and China. Former Trade and Industry Minister Amari is expected to lead the taskforce, which regards semiconductors as “indispensable” for ensuring the nation’s economic security.
