TV Asahi reported at noon that John Coates, head of the IOC’s Coordination Commission for the Tokyo Games, disclosed in a letter addressed to Olympic athletes and sponsors on Wednesday that he will visit Japan on June 15 for final coordination and IOC Chairman Bach will arrive in Tokyo on July 12, more than 10 days before the opening ceremony. Coates also reportedly said the IOC will update its “playbook” on COVID-19 measures and reiterated the IOC’s commitment to holding the Games by saying: “No one should have any doubts.”
