This was reportedly the first time for the top U.S. diplomat in Japan to visit the Taiwanese mission in Tokyo since bilateral diplomatic relations were severed in 1979. The article added that Hsieh also interacted with the Chargé at the U.S. ambassador’s residence on March 4. NHK carried a similar report on Tuesday evening, showing photos of the Chargé visiting the residence of Hsieh in Tokyo.
