Ryukyu Shimpo and Okinawa Times wrote that the governments of the United States and Japan announced on Tuesday that they agreed at their Joint Committee meeting that 0.19 hectares of land at the Makiminato Service Area, also known as Camp Kinser, will be returned to Japan by the end of this month. Japan had asked the United States to return the land to allow for the expansion of Route 58. The papers wrote that the two governments reached the agreement following the completion of the relocation of a laundry facility that was situated on the land to be returned.
