Tokyo, May 26 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s National Personnel Authority is considering offering central government officials special leave to receive COVID-19 vaccinations, informed sources told Jiji Press on Wednesday.

The move comes as some companies have introduced such leave at the request of administrative reform minister Taro Kono, who is in charge of the country’s vaccination rollout.

A plan is being considered to allow central government workers to take the leave for inoculation and when they develop a side reaction such as fever after receiving a shot.

Local governments are expected to adopt a similar system for their workers as well.
