TBS reported at noon that according to government sources, Prime Minister Suga is planning to announce that Japan will provide some of its vaccine supplies to developing nations through COVAX in addition to pledging additional funding of up to $800 million at the vaccine summit to be held on June 2.  Noting that Japan has already pledged $200 million to COVAX, Japan’s funding will reach $1 billion, making it the second largest donor after the U.S. The network added that although Japan is considering providing some of its AstraZeneca vaccine supplies to Taiwan, it will not name which countries or regions will receive Japan’s vaccines through COVAX.
