Mainichi projected that Prime Minister Suga is expected to announce $800 million in financial contributions, $100 million more than initially contemplated, to the COVAX initiative during the global COVID-19 vaccine summit to be held remotely today, saying that Japan has already committed $200 million to support the vaccine rollout in impoverished countries. The premier is also likely to express Japan’s readiness to provide some of its AstraZeneca vaccine supplies to developing nations.
