Over 10 million people in Japan have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine

All national dailies wrote that the GOJ announced on Wednesday that COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to more than 10 million people in Japan , with 4,653,566 healthcare workers and 5,734,023 people aged 65 and over receiving at least one shot of vaccine as of Tuesday. The total of 10.38 million accounts for about 8% of Japan’s population. The papers wrote that plans to administer vaccines at workplaces and university campuses are moving forward to achieve the GOJ’s goal of administering up to 1 million doses per day.

 

The papers also wrote that the GOJ announced on Wednesday that 98.7% of the 1,741 municipalities in Japan will likely complete their vaccination programs for the elderly by the end of July.
