TV Asahi reported at noon on the finding that the number of Japanese staff members who will be going in and out of the venues and athletes’ village other than the athletes during the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics will reach approximately 190,000. According to the Tokyo Olympics organizing committee, among the 190,000, 8,000 will be members of the organizing committee, 54,000 will be volunteers, and 120,000 will be people involved in security, cleaning, and transportation. The network said that while the organizing committee is planning to isolate the athletes by using the “bubble” method, many Japanese staff members will be using public transportation to commute to the Olympic venues and the athletes’ village, adding that there are concerns that the risk of infection may increase as it will be difficult to control the movements of every staff member.
