Marine colonel apologizes for anxiety caused by helicopter landing on Tsuken Island

Ryukyu Shimpo and Okinawa Times wrote that concerning the unscheduled landing by a Futenma-based UH-1 helicopter on Tsuken in Uruma, Okinawa, on June 2, Col. Neil Owens, Director of Marine Corps Installations Pacific Government and External Affairs, visited the island on Tuesday to meet with a group of residents. According to the papers, Col. Owens offered an apology by saying the incident cause anxiety and inconvenience for residents. The Marine officer reportedly told the group that the aircraft crew decided to make a precautionary landing to ensure the safety of the helicopter and its crew after a warning light came on.
