On June 13, the Naha Police arrested on the spot a 21-year-old U.S. Marine Corps lance corporal stationed in Okinawa on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Law (driving under the influence of alcohol) for driving a car under the influence of alcohol (DUI). The suspect denied the charge. “I don’t want to talk about it,” he said. Alcohol of about 1.25 times the legal limit was reportedly detected on the suspect’s breath.

The suspect was arrested on charges of driving a passenger car under the influence of alcohol on National Road No. 58 in the Maejima district of Naha City at around 6:10 a.m. on June 13. (The suspect’s name has been redacted.)
