All national dailies wrote that Chief Cabinet Secretary Kato told reporters on Thursday that the GOJ is making preparations to issue vaccine passports from around mid- to late July. Kato said that the government will first issue paper vaccination certificates but will also consider issuing them digitally. Nikkei speculated that GOJ will make the move to bring the pandemic-ravaged economy back onto a growth path by supporting Japanese firms’ business activities in foreign countries.
