Japan spent some $365,000 on entertaining President Trump as state guest in 2019

Asahi highlighted the disclosure by the GOJ on Tuesday that a total of 40.2 million yen  ($365,000) was spent on entertaining President Trump when he visited Japan as a state guest in May 2019. The amount reportedly included $12,000 for his golf outing with Prime Minister Abe in Chiba and $19,500 for an informal dinner at a Roppongi restaurant. The GOJ reportedly justified the spending on what the daily called “extremely generous hospitality” by citing diplomatic protocols appropriate for a head of state.
