Two Chinese ships leave Japanese territorial waters near Senkakus

The 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters (Naha) confirmed that two China Coast Guard ships that had entered Japanese territorial waters off the Senkaku Islands (Ishigaki, Okinawa) on June 22 left the territorial waters and entered Japan’s contiguous zone at around 4:25 a.m. on June 23. 

 

According to the 11th Headquarters, the two Chinese ships followed a Japanese fishing boat into the territorial waters in the early hours of June 20, left during the night of June 21, and then reentered the territorial waters before dawn on June 22.

 

Chinese government ships have entered Japan’s territorial waters for four consecutive days. This is the 25th time that such ships have entered Japan’s territorial waters this year.
