Chinese ships spotted near Senkakus for 132nd consecutive day

The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) confirmed that three China Coast Guard vessels were in the contiguous zone outside Japan’s territorial waters near the Senkaku Islands (Ishigaki City, Okinawa Prefecture) on June 24, setting a new record for consecutive days since the Japanese government nationalized the islands in September 2012.

Chinese government ships have now been spotted near the Senkakus for 132 consecutive days.

The JCG issued a warning to the Chinese vessels not to approach Japan’s territorial waters.
