Nikkei wrote that the Cabinet Office announced on Wednesday new guidelines for quarantining foreign athletes arriving in Japan to participate in the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. Under the new guidelines effective July 1, if one member tests positive for the coronavirus at a quarantine post at an airport, all team members will be treated as potentially having been in close contact with the infected person. The government also updated the guidelines for municipalities that plan to host training camps for foreign athletes, under which all team members will be requested to quarantine in their hotel rooms and stop training in the event that one member tests positive for COVID-19. Team members will not be allowed to resume training until they test negative. All other national dailies ran similar reports.
