Japan to begin issuing “vaccine passports” in late July

NHK reported that Chief Cabinet Secretary Kato told the press this morning that the government is currently coordinating with local municipalities concerning the issuance of “vaccine passports” and will likely begin issuing them in late July. Kato reportedly said: “We will issue regulations for the enforcement of the Preventive Vaccination Act in mid-July. After local municipalities test the modified computer system, we would like to begin issuing the vaccine passports. At this point, we are planning to begin issuing them in late July.”
