Note: The Arashi Party (Arashi no To) was referred to as “The Party that Protects the People from Old Political Parties (Furui Seito kara Kokumin wo Mamoru To)” in the previous poll.

Polling methodology: The nationwide survey was conducted on July 9–11, 2021, on a computer-aided random digit dialing (RDD) basis and targeted voters aged 18 or over with calls placed to landline and mobile phone numbers. Valid responses were received from a total of 1,068 persons, including 433 persons (out of the 682 households with one or more eligible voters) for landline numbers and 635 persons (out of the 1,398 persons who answered) for mobile numbers. The valid response rates were 63% for landline numbers and 45% for mobile numbers. Figures are rounded off. In some graphs and charts, the total percentage may not add up to 100%. “0” indicates that the figure was below 0.5%, and “–” denotes that no respondents gave that answer.

The wording of the question on the holding of the Tokyo Olympic Games was partially changed in light of the announcement of the decision to hold the Olympics without spectators. On the first day of the poll, the phrase “venues in Tokyo and three surrounding prefectures” was used. On the second day of the poll through the evening, the phrase “venues in Tokyo and five prefectures” was used. [From that point to the end of the survey, “most venues in Tokyo and other areas throughout Japan” was used, as in the question given in this article.]
