On Aug. 10, the Okinawa Defense Bureau held an online meeting of the “environmental monitoring committee,” an expert committee on the construction of the new base in Henoko. The basis for the decision to transplant the coral when water temperatures were high was officially released at the meeting for the first time. Although reporting on the transplantation took place after the process had begun, none of the committee members had objections. The Defense Bureau continued its work in waters planned for transplantation at the south side of Cape Henoko on the same day. The Ryukyu Shimpo confirmed the transplantation of Dipsastraea speciosa coral. (Abridged)
