Four China Coast Guard vessels entered Japanese territorial waters near the Senkaku Islands (Ishigaki City, Okinawa Prefecture) in succession, starting at around 4:00 p.m. on Aug. 19. The same four vessels exited the Japanese territorial waters and entered the surrounding contiguous zone around 5:30 p.m. the same day.
According to the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters (Naha), two ships entered the territorial waters near Minamikojima Island and the other two entered near Uotsuri Island. There were no Japanese fishing boats sailing nearby.
The China Coast Guard vessels last entered the Japanese territorial waters near the Senkakus on July 14. This is the 31st day such intrusions have been recorded so far this year.
