Saturday’s Okinawa Times front-paged a report on the Okinawa Prefectural Government’s announcement on Friday that a total of 743 people in the prefecture were confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 on Friday, marking a record for that day of the week. The report added that the U.S. military confirmed 30 new cases among its personnel in Okinawa. This was the second-highest number since 46 new cases were confirmed on Jan. 20. According to the prefectural government, one-third of the 30 cases were breakthrough infections. Ryukyu Shimpo ran a similar inside-page report.
