Astroscale, a space start-up, announced on Aug. 26 that its demonstration satellite for retrieving space debris successfully completed an experiment to capture mock space debris. The satellite was launched from a space port in Kazakhstan in March 2021.

On Aug. 26, the demonstration satellite released the mock debris, to which it was linked, in orbit at an altitude of 550 kilometers. Then the satellite fired its engine to approach the mock debris and successfully captured the debris with a magnet. (Abridged)
