Japan names new ambassadors to Ukraine, Pakistan, 9 other countries

TOKYO – The Japanese government on Friday named new ambassadors to Ukraine, Pakistan, Qatar and eight other countries.

 

In the appointments effective next Tuesday, the government named Kuninori Matsuda, 62, Japanese ambassador to Pakistan, as the new envoy to Ukraine, and Keiichiro Morishita, 61, ambassador to Colombia, as envoy to Ecuador.

 

The government also tapped Satoshi Maeda, 63, a former assistant chief Cabinet secretary, as ambassador to Qatar, and Mitsuhiro Wada, 61, former Japanese consul general in Hong Kong as the envoy to Pakistan, effective on Sept. 3.

 

Masahiro Takasugi, 56, will replace Morishita as the new envoy to Colombia, while Tetsu Ozaki, 63, former deputy president of Nomura Holdings Inc., was named as ambassador to Lithuania, effective on Sept. 3.

 

Keisuke Senta, 63, was picked as ambassador to Samoa, Hideki Asari, 59, to Uruguay, Masahiro Takagi, 62, to the Dominican Republic, Yuji Kubo, 57, to Haiti, and Jun Nakahara, 58, to Honduras, also effective on Sept. 3.
