According to the Japan Coast Guard’s 11th regional headquarters (Naha), the two Chinese Coast Guard ships that had entered Japanese territorial waters near the Senkaku Islands (Ishigaki, Okinawa Prefecture) on Aug. 28 left the territorial waters and entered the contiguous zone on Aug. 29 at around 1:00 p.m.
Chinese ships thus were in Japanese territorial waters near the Senkakus for two straight days. This constituted the 33rd day of such intrusion this year.
The JCG 11th regional headquarters separately confirmed two Chinese ships sailing in the contiguous zone. It was the 21st consecutive day that Chinese ships were spotted in the contiguous zone near the Senkakus.
