Saturday’s Okinawa Times wrote that two senior members of the Okinawa Prefectural Assembly’s special committee on U.S. base issues visited the Pacific Region Headquarters of the Army & Air Force Exchange Service at Camp Foster on Friday to lodge a protest over the incident in April in Okinawa in which an employee at a U.S. base allegedly tried to sexually assault a Japanese woman. The suspect was arrested on charges of attempted forcible intercourse in July. The local assembly members also visited the U.S. Consulate General Naha to lodge a protest with Consul General Matthew Dolbow.
