On Sept. 3, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) started to solicit public comment for the revised Basic Energy Plan which will outline the direction of Japan’s energy policy. The revised plan aims for renewable energy to make up 36-38% of total power generated in FY2030. The target is an increase from the current goal of renewable energy comprising 22-24% [of power generated] in FY2030.
