53% say they will vote for LDP in next Lower House election, Nikkei spot poll

The nationwide public opinion poll conducted by Nikkei and TV Tokyo on Sept. 9–11 probed views on which political party respondents intended to vote for in the next House of Representatives election or which political party had candidates that they wanted to vote for. A plurality of 53% of respondents said they would cast their vote for the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), up 10 percentage points from the poll conducted on Aug. 27–29. Some 12% of pollees said they would vote for the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, virtually unchanged from the 14% found in the August poll. Next were the Japanese Communist Party at 5% and Nippon Ishin (Japan Innovation Party) at 4%, both of which were 5% in the August survey.
