North Korea’s trajectory-shifting missiles raise concern over Japan’s missile defense

Nikkei wrote that concern about Japan’s missile defense spread within the GOJ following North Korea’s launches of short-range ballistic missiles on Wednesday because the missiles that took irregular paths rather than typical ballistic trajectories forced the Ministry of Defense to correct its earlier assessment that the projectiles landed outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone. The paper wrote that the incident triggered concern over Japan’s ability to track such weapons and the limits of its missile defense system.
