On Sept. 13, “Fight for Justice,” a group of researchers and citizens, issued a statement calling on the government not to intervene politically in the language used in textbooks. The statement was issued after multiple textbook publishers responded to a request made by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to revise wording based on a Cabinet decision that says the terms “military comfort women” and “forcible mobilization” are inappropriate. “Fight for Justice” operates an academic website about the Japanese Imperial Army’s “comfort women” system based on official documents and other evidence.
