PM Suga to launch policy study group after stepping down

At a press conference held at the Prime Minister’s Office [Kantei] on Sept. 28, Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide revealed his plan to form a policy study group after he steps down. “I will work to realize the policies that I have proposed,” he said. “This will not be a factional group but will become a forum dedicated to studying policies.”

Suga does not belong to any faction, but it appears he intends to work closely with the intraparty “Ganesha” group, which is composed of a few dozen lawmakers and is supportive of Suga. (Abridged)
