Ryukyu Shimpo wrote that today marks the third anniversary of the launch of the administration of Okinawa Governor Tamaki, who won a record 390,000 votes in the gubernatorial election by campaigning on a platform of opposing the Futenma base’s relocation to Henoko. However, the paper wrote that the foundation of the “All Okinawa” anti-base group, which supports Tamaki beyond any ideological framework, is losing its influence because some of its moderate members, including Kanehide Group Chairman Goya Morimasa, have left the group. The paper wrote that since its members are only united in their opposition to Futenma’s relocation to Henoko, it is difficult for them to reach a consensus on other base issues. The paper said that the “All Okinawa” anti-base group will likely face a critical juncture next autumn when Tamaki seeks a second term.
