At a Cabinet meeting on Oct. 1, the government approved a plan to appoint head of the novel coronavirus response office Yoshida Manabu to succeed Tarumi Hideki as vice-minister of health, labour and welfare as of the same day.
Yoshida graduated from Kyoto University’s Faculty of Law in 1984 and has served as a Cabinet Secretariat councillor and head of the novel coronavirus response office. He is originally from Aichi Prefecture and is 59 years old. (Abridged)
