Japan helps evacuate more than 300 Afghans

All national dailies wrote that Foreign Minister Motegi told reporters on Tuesday that Japan has helped evacuate a total of more than 300 Afghans who have worked for the Japanese Embassy in Kabul and for JICA and their families since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan in mid-August. Motegi said that 118 evacuees have already arrived in Japan and about 140 evacuees are currently waiting to depart from Qatar and another group of 50 or so are set to arrive in Japan on Wednesday. The papers wrote that Japan has now evacuated more than 60% of the 500 Afghan embassy and JICA workers and their family members that it had planned to get out of the country.
