Ryukyu Shimpo and Okinawa Times wrote that on Monday the Naha district court handed down a four-year prison sentence to a civilian employee of the U.S. Air Force who was indicted on the charge of attempted forcible sexual intercourse with a Japanese woman with whom he was unacquainted in the early hours of April 17 this year. The defendant was also indicted on the charge of theft for snatching the shoulder bag of another woman that contained about 7,000 yen in the city of Okinawa in the early hours of Aug. 16, 2020. The presiding judge said that the court finds no reason to suspend the imprisonment because attempted forcible intercourse is a malicious crime and the defendant disregarded the human rights of the victim.
