Self-declared civilian employee of U.S. military arrested for pickpocketing

On Oct. 23, a 32-year-old man was arrested by the Okinawa Police Station on suspicion of stealing a restaurant employee’s wallet, which contained credit cards and 2,000 yen in cash, on the streets of Okinawa City’s central district. The suspect claims to be a resident of Okinawa City and a civilian employee of the U.S. Air Force. According to the Okinawa police, the suspect is denying the allegation, saying, “I won’t say anything until I have spoken with the Military Police.” (Personal name has been redacted.)
