LDP presidential election attracts great interest among newspaper readers in September, poll

On Oct. 26, the Japan Newspaper Publishers and Editors Association announced the September results of its poll titled “Newspaper Audience Survey 365,” which probes how much people access information in the newspaper, on the television, and on the Internet. Access of newspaper information peaked on Sept. 4, the day after then-Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide announced he would not seek reelection as Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president. Developments related to the LDP presidential election were the focus of interest. The survey was conducted online and covered 300 men and women age 18 to 69.
