On Oct. 26, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) decided to take up to 151 billion yen from the 2 trillion yen fund to promote decarbonization technologies and dedicate it to R&D on next-generation automotive batteries and motors. The ministry will support the establishment of technologies for the mass production of automotive batteries with higher energy density, which Japan aims to achieve by 2030. METI will issue a call for submissions from businesses as early as November.
