The Japan-Korea Economic Association (JKE), which is comprised of the top executives of major Japanese and South Korean companies, held an online meeting on Nov. 2, connecting venues in Tokyo and Seoul, South Korea.
The joint statement adopted at the meeting touches on shared challenges, such decarbonization and the protection of the Earth’s environment, and declared that the businesspeople of the two countries will cooperate to address these issues. The statement requests the governments of both countries to “implement effective measures toward resuming normal business travel as soon as possible.” Former Mitsubishi Corporation chairperson Sasaki Mikio, who served as the head of the Japanese delegation, said that “the two countries’ businesspersons share strong mutual understanding and secure ties, even though the Japan-South Korea bilateral relationship, said to be at a historic low, shows no signs of improvement.”
