Monday’s Sankei published a Kyodo interview with German Navy Inspector Schönbach, who reportedly said Germany is considering deploying a warship to the region every two years if possible. The vice admiral said such a warship could stay in the region for up to two years so it would not have to travel back and forth to Europe. Schönbach also expressed hope to strengthen cooperation with the Australian and Japanese navies so that Germany can play a role in ensuring peace and the maritime order based on international law in the Indo-Pacific region.
