Today’s Yomiuri published an interview with visiting Colombian Foreign Minister Ramírez yesterday, during which she voiced strong hope for concluding an economic partnership agreement with Japan to attract Japanese investment in the renewable energy sector.  The daily added that the two nations began bilateral EPA talks in 2012.

Nikkei also carried its interview with the same Colombian official, saying that she urged Japan to officially join the Pacific Alliance, a Latin American trade bloc formed by Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru. Singapore’s full membership in the free trade framework was agreed upon this year and Australia is also reportedly interested in participating.
