Kishida to launch ministerial panel on economic security

Thursday’s Sankei wrote that Prime Minister Kishida has decided to establish a taskforce made up of cabinet members to promote economic security more proactively based on the assessment that economic security cannot be guaranteed without close inter-ministry coordination to address a range of issues such as building resilient supply chains and preventing the outflow of technological and academic expertise. A separate 30-member panel of various ministry bureaucrats will be established under the Cabinet Secretariat to draft legislation on enhancing economic security.
