Japanese ambassador to Afghanistan meets with senior Taliban officials

Thursday’s Sankei reported that a deputy spokesperson of the Taliban’s interim government announced on Wednesday that Japanese Ambassador to Afghanistan Okada held talks with Abdul Kabir, deputy prime minister in charge of political affairs, on Tuesday and with Abdul Ghani Baradar, another deputy prime minister in the Taliban interim government, on Wednesday. Ambassador Okada reportedly told Baradar that Japan will reopen its embassy in Kabul if its security can be ensured.
