On Nov. 22, the Japan Uyghur Association and local assembly member groups supporting Uyghurs living in Japan sent a document to about 1,700 local assemblies nationwide regarding the Chinese government’s suppression of human rights in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR). The document called on the assemblies to adopt at their regular meetings in December a recommendation asking the Japanese government and the National Diet to investigate the actual state [of human rights in XUAR] and to pass a resolution condemning [China for its infringement of human rights there].
